It’s getting really snowy where I live! 13 inches and it’s still coming down hard! This snow is not sledding snow, but we tried sledding at a big hill across the street for a while. Here is a recipe for hot chocolate me and my friends made, it makes hot chocolate for 3 people:

Ingredients:

3 packets of swiss miss hot chocolate powder

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking chocolate powder

6 cups boiling water

6 marshmallows

Butterscotch or chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:

Mix the water and the swiss miss powder.

Add the rest of the ingredients, stirring until all powder is mixed in well.

Let it cool, and pour into 3 mugs. Add 2 marshmallows to each mug, topping with butterscotch or chocolate chips.

Brown Sugar French Toast

Recipe, makes 8 servings:

  • A loaf of bread
  • 6 eggs – lightly beaten
  • 1 and 3/4 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter – melted
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon until well blended. Set aside.

In another bowl, combine eggs and milk until well blended.

Place bread in egg/milk dish and soak for a couple minutes.

Sprinke brown sugar mixture on one side of each soaked bread slice. Grill in a pan until well cooked

Recently I have been eating toast more often, and I had forgotten how delicious it is. I always toast mine lightly, and spread butter on it, like the picture below.

Toast

The bread is a key part to making toast. This bread is white bread from a local bakery, and it is very soft.

Toast is awesome.

Here are 5 delicious recipes that I ate in August, that were not eaten at a restaurant:

1. Orzo with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, goat cheese, Parmesan cheese, zucchini, and garlic. You mix all the ingredients together, add some zucchini and cheese on the top, and bake until it is warm. This is one of my favorite dishes of all time!

2. Chicken, mushroom, red pepper, and onion packets. Wrap all of the ingredients in aluminum foil and put on a fire. I enjoyed this on my vacation at the beach.

3. BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, guacamole and chips, and tomatoes and mozzarella cheese covered with oil and balsamic vinegar. This is an awesome meal that is great for summer.

4. Spinach salad with chicken, roasted pecans, raspberries, and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. As a side, we had tomatoes, mozzarella, oil and balsamic vinegar.

5. Chicken casserole. Made with chicken, chicken soup, broccoli, cheese, and rice. This is a really easy and yummy recipe.
